List of 7 key players absent from action for this edition

IPL Auction 2022: IPL 2022 will be very different and more exciting this time. A mega auction happening after ages, two new franchises added to the pool, being some of the reasons.

While fans weren’t able to keep calm anticipating the in-store action, there was some bad news as well. Just before the mega auction in February, several key international players withdrew their names for personal reasons.

Biobubble fatigue, covid restrictions, injury issues and workload management are the common reasons for not being part of the upcoming edition.

The seven key players to miss this time around include Chris Gayle, Ben Stokes, Joe Root, Mitchell Starc, Sam Curran, Jofra Archer and Chris Woakes.

IPL Auction 2022: 7 International Players Who Didn’t Sign Up For Mega Auction

1. Chris Gayle

The 42-year-old Universe boss from the West Indies was also not part of the second half of IPL 2021. He had pulled out citing bio-bubble fatigue and reasons for injury. This year again, he stayed away from the competition for the same reasons. Gayle is a popular name in T-20 cricket and has gained a lot of fans. It will be extremely disappointing for his fans to see his absence this time.

2. Ben Stokes

The 30-year-old had to withdraw from all IPL 2021 matches after breaking his finger in the first match. He was recently part of the Ashes in which his team suffered a merciless defeat against the Australians. Stokes decided to spend his summer resting and spending time with his family instead.

3. Joe Root

Stokes’ mate Joe Root was also part of the Ashes. Following his team’s loss, he decided to spend the summer training and focusing more on test cricket for the team.

4. Mitchell Starc

This fierce Aussie speedster has also pulled out of this IPL season. He revealed he wanted to revive and focus on his form for the upcoming ODI series. It should be mentioned that it was also part of the ashes that ended recently.

5. Jofra Archer

Jofra Archer missed the IPL 2021 due to injury. He had to undergo surgery and briefly returned to the field. However, he was again plagued by injuries later on. Although he is fit and playing for his team, he wants to protect himself from further injury by not playing IPL 2022.

6. Chris Woake

Another England cricket team player, Chris Woakes has also not registered his name for the IPL 2022 auction. Chris only played 03 matches in the previous edition where he managed to win 05 wickets. He cited bio-bubble fatigue, fatigue and injuries for not participating this time.

7. Sam Curran

Previously, Tom Curran withdrew from the IPL 2022 auction. Soon after, his brother, Sam Curran also joined him. He is still recovering from the injury sustained in the T20 World Cup.

The loss of all of the above players will definitely be a blow to the franchises. We think there are no more last minute surprises that could dampen the excitement for the upcoming edition.
