Derelict building near Dunfermline being sold by Auction House Scotland

A derelict, derelict, stone-built old farm building, five miles from Dunfermline, has been auctioned off for five times its guide price.

Auction House Scotland, the auctioneer who handled the sale, noted that the ruined C-listed building, The Stables at Bowleys Farm, has nearly six acres of land and had a guide price of £32,500.

It is believed to date from the late 18th century and is accessed by a rough track.

Auction House Scotland said: “The unusual plot, which has 360 degree views of the stunning surrounding countryside, is less than fifteen minutes’ drive from Dunfermline and within easy commuting distance of Edinburgh.”

Mandi Cooper, Managing Director of Auction House Scotland, said: “Lot 5, The Stables at Bowleys Farm, attracted significant interest ahead of the auction, resulting in several registered bidders that day – we continued to receive calls until a few minutes before the auction started, from people wishing to register to bid on the lot.

“Selling for almost five times the target price, the result exceeded our expectations and those of our sellers. A unique rural property near the town of Dunfermline with exceptional countryside views, the land offers a superb development opportunity for the successful buyer.
