PATNA: Six Bihar cricketers have been included in the bidding list for the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The auction is scheduled for February 12-13 in Bangalore. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday released a list of 590 cricketers, including 370 Indian players, to be won by a total of 10 teams with a base price ranging from Rs20 lakh to Rs2 crore.
“I hope that at least three of them will be selected by IPL franchises due to their strong performances in the T20 premier class and interstate cricket tournaments last year,” the official said on the phone on Wednesday. President of the Bihar Cricket Association, Rakesh Kumar Tiwari.
Among the six, Abhijeet Saket (26) is from Patna and Lakhan Raja (27) from Saran. Vipul Krishna (20) belongs to Panchhor Riga village in Sitamarhi, while Anunay Singh (29) is from Vaishali and Anuj Raj (21) from Gopalganj. Pratyush Singh (27) hails from Hazaribag in Jharkhand but has been representing Bihar in Premier Class and T20 cricket tournaments for a year.
Tiwari said the six players have the potential to perform well and expressed his gratitude to BCCI and IPL for including the Bihar cricketers in the bidding list.
Abhijeet, a right-handed batsman and medium-paced bowler, took 8 wickets in seven T20 matches with 3/15 against Railways in November last year.
Anuj, a right-handed batsman and left-arm medium-paced bowler, won five wickets in last year’s T20 matches in Chennai and Ahmedabad.
Lakhan, Vipul, Anunay and Pratyush are versatile.
